
Lisa Rubin-Horton- Member
​Lisa received an AA in Drama from Miami-Dade Community College and a BA in English from Florida Atlanta University. She was in the graduate program in Developmental Psychology at Florida Atlantic University where she earned her certification in Behavior Analysis but, ultimately, received her MS in Marriage and Family Therapy from St. Thomas University. She worked primarily with individuals and families with autism, Down syndrome, Prater-Willi syndrome and other developmental disabilities.
Lisa started campaigning in the 1970’s, canvassing, poll watching, attending rallies, waving signs, etc. in Miami-Dade County. She was a precinct captain, then a Democratic Committeewoman. She was a paid staff member for U.S. Congressman Bill Lehman’s reelection and Roberta Fulton-Fox’s first successful run for the Florida House of Representatives. She was also office manager for Jimmy Carter’s primary campaign in Miami-Dade County in 1976.
After a move to Marion County, Florida in 2012, Lisa campaigned for various issues and for Hillary Clinton in 2016 and Joe Biden in 2020. She joined the South Shore Democratic Club not long after moving to Hillsborough County in the summer of 2023, got involved in campaigns and became a Board member in March of 2024. She has a daughter and three grandsons who reside in South Tampa.
