Susan has been involved with South Shore Democratic Club since 2017. She joined the Board of
Directors in 2020 and is responsible for SSDC membership recruitment.
She holds an Associate of Fine Arts degree and a Bachelor of Science in Social Work. Her work in case
management involved assessing and assisting homeless persons and families for permanent housing.
Low-income housing advocacy with the state legislature was an ongoing task as well as grant writing and
administration. She also worked for the NYS Coalition for the Homeless, and the Albany Housing
Coalition for homeless Veterans. She volunteered and served on the Board for the Tri-City chapter of
Habitat for Humanity, chairing the Family Partner Committee.
She later became Executive Director of Arbor Hill Development Corporation, a walk-in home rental and
homeownership agency in Albany, New York.
She retired in 2005 to live on a sailboat on the east coast of Florida for the subsequent ten winters.
After sailing to Europe, she and her partner decided to “swallow the anchor” and live in the Kings Point
community on the west coast of Florida.
